Our Ambassadors

Ananya Asthana   Founder + President (Illinois)  Ananya is 15 years old and a sophomore at the University of Chicago Laboratory High School. She got involved in WiSTEM as she was inspired to bridge the gap between social justice channels and academic fields. Outside of WiSTEM, she is a member of her high school's Model UN Team, Science Team, and Tennis Team. She's also an editor for her high school Yearbook and Chicago Youth Science Journal. Ananya hopes to further study gender-based and behavioral economics and delve deeper into the area of social entrepreneurship. Beyond academics, Ananya is a prolific baker, avid reader, and religious chai drinker.

Antoinette Raggs   Kenwood High School Ambassador (Illinois)  Antoinette is 15 years old and a sophomore at Kenwood Academy. She has a passion for STEM, specifically science and math, even though she, admittedly, sometimes struggles. However, she doesn't want to be restricted to the problems she can immediately solve. This past summer in 2017, she completed an internship at University of Chicago for minority young scientists where she explored different sciences like sociology and health science. She also loves reading books, and her favorite authors are Ta-Nehisi Coates and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Linda Chen   Dwight Englewood High School (New Jersey)  Linda is 16 years old and a junior at Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey. Hannah Davis   Latin School of Chicago (Illinois)  Hannah Davis is 16 years old and a junior at the Latin School of Chicago. She started a WiSTEM chapter at her school after noticing a lack of female enrollment and class participation in a lot of STEM classes. She hopes to make STEM seem more accessible to other high school girls through discussion and mentorship. Outside of WiSTEM, Hannah plays on her school tennis and soccer teams. She has a passion for STEM and hopes to pursue a career in the field, especially in biology. She is the president of the Women in STEM club at her school, and does various activities with them, such as volunteer at schools to help encourage girls to pursue STEM careers. Besides STEM, May is also on her school’s varsity water polo team, tutors math, and volunteers to help the environment. She likes to spend time with family, and has various hobbies, such as drawing and baking.

Ema Takahashi   Walter Payton High School Ambassador (Illinois)  Ema is 16 years old and a junior at Walter Payton College Prep. She has been involved in many clubs at her high school ranging from the Payton Organization of Women to the Society of Women Engineers. Many of these clubs have allowed her to have discussions with her peers about gender equality. She also participated in a Global Summit hosted by Chicago Sister Cities International, which allowed for her to delve more deeply into feminism and helped her get involved in WiSTEM. Outside of school, she has also been competitively figure skating for ten years.

Rani tries to reach out to people in these fields to help others and enjoys these fields herself. Her favorite subjects are computer science, math, and chemistry.

Sherry is very excited to be a part of the WiSTEM program as she has always wanted to pursue a career in the STEM field. In school, she enjoys doing speech and participating on her school's Model UN Team. In her free time, Sherry also loves reading books, watching movies, and listening to good music. She's eager to work with all the ambassadors and connect with more driven girls. Moving forward, she's really looking to help WiSTEM grow and expand its presence nationally.

Jessica loves working with children and wants to pursue a career in pediatrics.
