Ananya Asthana   Founder + President (Illinois)  Ananya is 17 years old and a senior at the University of Chicago Laboratory High School. She got involved in WiSTEM as she was inspired to bridge the gap between social justice channels and academic fields. Outside of WiSTEM, she leads her high school Model UN team and creative arts magazine. Ananya hopes to delve deeper into the area of social entrepreneurship and innovation. Beyond school, Ananya is an avid reader, aspiring yogi, and religious chai drinker.

Linda Chen   Dwight Englewood High School Ambassador (New Jersey)  Linda is 18 years old and a senior at Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey. As a member of the school’s robotics team and Chemistry Olympics Team, Linda founded WiSTEM at her school to address the lack of female interest in these clubs and in higher level STEM courses. Linda is also on the school’s Volleyball Team, Lacrosse Team, and Foreign Language Magazine Editing Staff. She attends the Columbia University Science Honors Program. Linda is interested in space exploration, applications of machine learning, neuroscience, and mechanical design.

She started a WiSTEM chapter at her school after noticing a lack of female enrollment and class participation in a lot of STEM classes. She hopes to make STEM seem more accessible to other high school girls through discussion and mentorship. Outside of WiSTEM, Hannah plays on her school tennis and soccer teams. She is also a member of the Student Philanthropy Initiative at her school, edits for the high school literary magazine Polyphony Lit, and tutors first and second graders at McCutcheon Elementary school. Hannah recently spent time observing doctors at the University of Chicago and is interested in pursuing a career in the medical field.

May Jiang   Los Altos High School Ambassador (California)  May is 15 years old and a sophomore at Los Altos High School. She has a passion for STEM and hopes to pursue a career in the field, especially in biology. She is the president of the Women in STEM club at her school, and does various activities with them, such as volunteer at schools to help encourage girls to pursue STEM careers. Mishti Dhawan   Interlake High School Ambassador (Washington)  Mishti is a rising junior at Interlake High School in Bellevue, Washington. She is passionate about STEM, leadership, and politics. She is working towards bringing STEM opportunities to youth in her community. This past year, she co-founded STEMTeen, an initiative that seeks to bring STEM workshops and other opportunities to youth in her community. Mishti is an avid reader, a nature enthusiast, and a passionate activist. In her free time, you can find her at Debate tournaments or leading free science workshops at local middle schools to ignite the curiosity of youth.

Marielle Dibbini   Bronxville High School Ambassador (New York)  Marielle Dibbini is going into her junior year of high school and her third year of the girls STEM club at Bronxville High School. Last year, she organized bake sales to raise money and awareness of this organization, set up experiments as an innovative way of learning, and, most importantly, got girls to feel excited to learn and share their voice in the field of STEM. Next year, she plans on reaching out to an even younger audience, like girls in middle school, which will then spread their impact and recognition of the WiSTEM community.

Olivia Edoigiawerie   Walter Payton High School Ambassador (Illinois)  Olivia Edoigiawerie is 16 years old and a rising sophomore at Walter Payton College Prep. She leads the Women in STEM seminar at the school with the help of Sara Cawley and Tricia Li. Sufi Kaur   Palo Alto High School Ambassador (California)  Sufi is 17 years old and a senior at Palo Alto High School (Paly) in California. After wishing for a supportive community in many of her math and science classes, she was inspired to co-found the Paly Girls in STEM club. Sufi loves computer science and psychology, and hopes to study the intersection at artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction in college. She is also a Lincoln-Douglas debater and Impromptu speaker with the Paly Speech and Debate Team and cross-country athlete. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, and cooking, and playing the ukulele.

Elisabeth Kim   Dwight-Englewood Ambassador (New Jersey)  Elisabeth is a 17 year old (upcoming Senior) at the Dwight Englewood High School. She is passionate about sharing all the wonderful possibilities, ideas, and questions that her interest has created, with the younger women of our generation. She wants to help cultivate a love for STEM within young girls because she sees how many girls stray from the interesting field due to the overwhelming male-majority. The WISE club, which stands for Women in Stem Education, at the Dwight Englewood promotes female involvement in the STEM field. Their goal is to encourage young girls to get involved in math, science, and engineering. Every Wednesday, the girls in the 4th grade and the members of the club experiment with biology, chemistry, and engineering! Within the STEM field, Elisabeth is specifically interested in bio-medical engineering. She volunteers at the hospital every Sunday and shadowed surgeons over this past summer. One day, she hopes to become an orthopedic surgeon. She also loves ceramics (as she is taking AP Art), lacrosse, and field hockey! She plays on the Varsity field hockey and lacrosse team and is the president of the Community Service club at her high school.

She is incredibly excited to lead her school's Women in STEM chapter and to help girls stay passionate about STEM by providing them with the support they need. She is also involved in Future Business Leaders of America, French Club, and helps produce her school's biweekly morning show. Emma also founded and currently runs her school's Astronomy Club and hopes to pursue a degree in Astrophysics in the future. Her hobbies include reading, sewing, and petting cats.

Shravya Pant   Dalton School Ambassador (New York)  Shravya Pant is 14 years old and a freshman at The Dalton School in New York City. She wanted to start a WiSTEM chapter at her school to help foster an environment for more girls to get involved in a wide variety of STEM activities and subjects, ranging from computer science to medicine. Shravya hopes to encourage more young women and girls, both at her school and others in her community, to develop a greater interest in these fields. Outside of WiSTEM, Shravya is a member of her school’s Varsity Tennis Team, math team, political action club, and Model UN team, writes for her school’s newspaper, and will be a member of her school’s Science Research Program starting next year. She is also a science tutor for seventh graders at her school. Shravya hopes to pursue a career in medicine and is a competitive tennis player, regularly volunteers with ACEing Autism, and is a huge foodie and an avid traveller.

Shravya Pant
Dalton School Ambassador (New York)
Shravya Pant is 14 years old and a freshman at The Dalton School in New York City. She wanted to start a WiSTEM chapter at her school to help foster an environment for more girls to get involved in a wide variety of STEM activities and subjects, ranging from computer science to medicine. Shravya hopes to encourage more young women and girls, both at her school and others in her community, to develop a greater interest in these fields. Outside of WiSTEM, Shravya is a member of her school’s Varsity Tennis Team, math team, political action club, and Model UN team, writes for her school’s newspaper, and will be a member of her school’s Science Research Program starting next year. She is also a science tutor for seventh graders at her school. Shravya hopes to pursue a career in medicine and is a competitive tennis player, regularly volunteers with ACEing Autism, and is a huge foodie and an avid traveller.

Penelope Pappas   Phoenixville High School Ambassador (Pennsylvania)  Penelope is 14 years old and a freshman at Phoenixville Area High School in Pennsylvania. She is an active participant of several leadership and service clubs at her high school, including Model UN, Phantom Ambassadors, and Mini THON, among others. She is also involved in the arts program at her school, and enjoys working with the choir department. She is especially interested in the components of STEM, creative writing, political science, and social justice. Penelope is also a competitive swimmer who plays the ukulele and watches Stranger Things.

Penelope is 14 years old and a freshman at Phoenixville Area High School in Pennsylvania. Julia Polsky   Francis W. Parker Ambassador (Illinois)   Julia Polsky is 16 years old and a rising junior. Although she is new to WiSTEM, she has already learned so much and is excited to be the new Ambassador and president of the club for the 2019-2020 school year. She loves her science and math courses and plans to pursue her studies. She hopes that through clubs like WiSTEM her school and schools generally can create an environment where gender doesn’t affect how teachers and classmates treat one another. Aside from school, Julia loves to play piano and competes for a swim club.

Julia Polsky is 16 years old and a rising junior. Sonia Redon   San Diego High School Ambassador (California)  Sonia Redon is 17 years old and a senior at San Diego High School. Sonia loves STEM and believes more people should have the opportunity to find that same passion. She is particularly interested in the relationship between STEM and design. Sonia is the Co-President of her school’s Women in STEM club alongside Hannah May. Sonia believes that community advocacy is important to the bettering of society and diminishment of inequalities and hopes the growth of her chapter and this organization will lead to progress. In addition to her role in WiSTEM, Sonia is also involved in Black Student Union and is the captain of her school’s varsity track and field team.

She hopes that through participating in WiSTEM, she can make change for women and their opportunities in the STEM industry. She hopes that WiSTEM can spread inspiration to girls across the country. Sophia also plays tennis and piano, in addition to swimming and participating on her school's Model UN Team. When she has time, she likes to ski, take photos, or cook.

In school, she enjoys doing speech and participating on her school's Model UN Team. In her free time, Sherry also loves reading books, watching movies, and listening to good music. She's eager to work with all the ambassadors and connect with more driven girls. Moving forward, she's really looking to help WiSTEM grow and expand its presence nationally.
